Cambridgeshire is home to some of the most beautiful gardens and spring is the perfect time to visit. We have listed the best of the ‘bunch’ for you to see…

Botanical Gardens Cambridge

The Botanical Gardens of Cambridge are just a 5-minute walk from the hotel. You will find a wonderland of plants, fountains and glasshouses. There is a Rock Garden that surrounds the North-Eastern arm of the lake. The rock plants are laid out geographically. On the South side of the lake are plants of South African and Australasian origin. Proceeding anticlockwise are Asian plants, then European and finally North American species stretching up to the highest point. The Botanical Gardens are teeming with beautiful bird life and many a different plant collections. Definitely not one to miss!

Chippenham Park Gardens

Chippenham Gardens are based just 19 miles outside of Cambridge but are most definitely worth the short journey. The park itself was created in the 1690s by Admiral Russell. On arrival, you will find award-winning gardens in a setting of lakes, canals and parkland. There is seasonal displays of daffodils and snowdrops, over 250 roses, grand-scale borders, wooded walks and winter-gardens around the ancient canals.

Wimpole Hall

The Gardens at Wimpole Hall are just a 20-minute taxi ride from the hotel. The gardens are filled with seasonal plantings, fabulous displays of daffodils and tulips in the spring and plenty more to see throughout the seasons. There is a kitchen garden that contains re-built glass-houses by Sir John Sloane and vegetables that are used in the restaurant. Also at Wimpole Hall you will find a farm, lakes and exciting trails to make your trip extra special. Here, you can have a  lovely day out with your family.

Peckover House

Peckover House is slightly further to travel (approx. 1 hour drive) but the journey to this garden will be absolutely worth it. Peckover gardens have large spacious lawns surrounded by specimen trees including Gingko, Chusan palm, Tulip tree and Monkey puzzle. You will see over seventy types of roses, an Edwardian-planted “Ribbon” border, and three colourful summerhouses. There is an Orangery at Peckover House that holds fruit trees and remarkable displays of pot plants through every season of the year.
